Trump Says He Could Reconcile With Elon Musk, But Focus Remains In ‘Fixing The Country’

U.S. President Donald Trump has said that while he does not “blame” Elon Musk for their recent public spat, he was still “a little disappointed” by the Tesla CEO’s actions. He added that although a reconciliation is possible, it is not currently a priority for him.

In the debut episode of the podcast “Pod Force One”, recorded on Monday and released Wednesday, Trump told New York Post columnist Miranda Devine:
“Look, I have no hard feelings,” he said. “I was really surprised that that happened. He went after a bill that’s phenomenal. …He just — I think he feels very badly that he said that, actually.”

Trump continued,
“I was disappointed in him, but, you know, it is what it is.”

When asked whether he and Musk could eventually reconcile, Trump responded:
“I could.”
“I guess I could, but we have to straighten out the country,” he added. “And my sole function now is getting this country back to a level higher than it’s ever been. And I think we can do that.”

The comments came on the same day Elon Musk expressed regret for his recent social media remarks about Trump, writing on X (formerly Twitter):
“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far.”

Trump vs Musk: A Public Feud

The clash between Trump and Musk escalated last week after both exchanged a series of sharp social media posts. The feud began over Musk’s opposition to a tax-cut bill that Trump is advocating in Congress. Musk even claimed, without evidence, that Trump would not have won the election without his support.

In another controversial post, Musk alleged, again without proof, that Trump’s name appeared in secret government files related to Jeffrey Epstein. The post was later deleted, but it sparked significant backlash.

Trump, in turn, dismissed the idea of reconciliation at the time, calling Musk’s actions “disrespectful” toward the office of the President and even warned of “consequences” if Musk continued his attacks.

As of now, while Trump remains open to restoring ties, his focus, he insists, remains on national priorities:
“We have to straighten out the country.”
