Praising US special forces for what he described as a highly sophisticated and flawless mission, US President Donald Trump said the United States successfully captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife without any loss of American lives.
Speaking to Fox News just hours after Saturday’s operation, Trump claimed he watched the raid live as it unfolded and described the experience as surreal — almost like watching “a television show.”
“My evening was slightly busy,” Trump said, adding that the situation was “dark all over, especially in Venezuela.” He went on to boast that the US military remains unmatched globally, crediting American forces for their precision, speed and execution.
“I was told by real military people that there’s no other country on Earth that could do such a manoeuvre,” Trump said. “If you would have seen what happened… I watched it literally like I was watching a television show. And if you would have seen the speed, the violence… it was an amazing thing, an amazing job that these people did. Nobody else could have done anything like it.”
The US President acknowledged that a “couple of guys” were hit during the operation, but asserted that no American lives were lost, highlighting the mission as another demonstration of US military dominance.
Trump’s comments quickly sparked global attention, with observers analysing both the geopolitical implications and the dramatic tone of his remarks.
