Washington DC [USA], June 19: As the conflict between Israel and Iran enters its seventh day, U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed deep concern over the escalating violence, while keeping his plans for potential American involvement deliberately ambiguous.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Trump refused to confirm whether the U.S. would launch a military strike on Iran. “I have a plan for everything… anything could happen,” he said, emphasizing that his decisions remain fluid in a rapidly evolving situation.
Trump voiced frustration over Iran’s failure to accept what he claimed was a favorable deal. “They should have made the deal. I had a great deal for them,” he said, recalling past negotiations. “We talked about it for 60 days, and in the end, they decided not to do it. Now they wish they had.”
He added that Iran had expressed interest in coming to the White House, though he appeared unsure whether any meeting would materialize. “It’s late to meet, but they want to… I may do that… Anything could happen,” Trump remarked.
Describing the gravity of the conflict, Trump said he was heading into a meeting in the White House war room. “We are in the midst of something terrible. I hate to see so much death and destruction,” he said, underscoring the human toll of the ongoing hostilities.
Trump stressed that he prefers to keep options open until the last moment. “I have ideas as to what I could do, but they are not final. I like to finalize one second before it’s due. Things change. Especially with war…”
Meanwhile, the situation on the ground remains dire. According to Anadolu Agency, citing Iranian media, at least 585 people have been killed and over 1,300 wounded in Israeli strikes across Iran. On the Israeli side, authorities reported 24 deaths and hundreds of injuries resulting from Iranian missile attacks.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Thursday that its air force was carrying out a “series of attacks” across Tehran and other regions of Iran. In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that air defense systems had been activated over the capital.
Amid these developments, CNN reported that President Trump convened a high-level situation room meeting to evaluate U.S. options in the conflict, as diplomatic and military tensions continue to rise.
