Trump Claims He Solved India-Pakistan Conflict, Says He Should Get Nobel Prize

US President Donald Trump has once again claimed that he solved the conflict between India and Pakistan with trade, asserting that he should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for “ending seven wars.” Speaking at the American Cornerstone Institute Founder’s Dinner on Saturday, Trump repeated a claim he has made over 40 times since the two nations reached a ceasefire in May of this year.

“We stopped wars between India and Pakistan,” Trump said. “And you know how I stopped that — with trade. They want to trade. And I have great respect for both leaders. But when you take a look at all of these wars that we’ve stopped… like with India, I said, ‘look, we’re not going to do any trade if you’re going to fight and they have nuclear weapons. They stopped.”

Trump’s statement directly contradicts the official stance of the Indian government. India has consistently denied any third-party intervention in the matter. Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar have made it clear that the cessation of hostilities was a result of direct talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of the two militaries.

The understanding to end the conflict on May 10 came after four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes following India’s launch of Operation Sindoor. India’s military action was a response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians.

Placing the India-Pakistan conflict in a larger context of his foreign policy achievements, Trump claimed to have stopped seven wars in total. “I said I stopped seven wars. That’s one war, and that’s a big one,” he stated, adding that he should get a Nobel Prize for each one. He also mentioned that he had thought the Russia-Ukraine conflict would be easy to resolve due to his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
