Trump Calls for Renaming Artificial Intelligence, Outlines “AI Action Plan” For US Dominance

In Washington, D.C. During a big AI event on Wednesday, President Donald Trump asked that the name of Artificial Intelligence (AI) be changed. The summit was attended by major industry leaders and investors, including “AI Czar” David Sacks. Trump recommended that the industry change its name for a “bizarre reason” as he laid out his administration’s plan to make the U.S. the leader in the field by cutting down on important regulations.

During the summit, President Trump talked about his “AI Action Plan,” which is a detailed plan to quickly speed up the development of AI in the US so that the country can stay ahead in the global tech race. He addressed the crowd, “Everyone is talking about artificial intelligence,” during his speech. I don’t even like the name.

The Irish Star says the president went on to explain his reasoning: “You know, I don’t like anything that is fake, so can we fix that?” He went on to say, “We need to change the name. I really mean that. I don’t like the label “artificial” for anything because it’s not real. It’s brilliant. It’s just brilliant.

This opinion comes just after Trump got a lot of bad press on social media last week for reportedly employing AI-generated content without telling people about it.

Trump’s “Anti-Woke” Push and Deregulation of AI

President Trump’s “AI Action Plan” includes a number of controversial policy ideas that are meant to speed up the growth of AI. Cutting back on environmental rules is a big part of this plan to speed up the building of AI supercomputers and data mining centers. People typically criticize these facilities because they have a big effect on the environment, such as using a lot of energy and water and adding to greenhouse gas emissions. This approach also helps the U.S. sell more AI technologies to other countries, which will make the U.S. more powerful around the world.

Also, Trump has stressed that his AI plan is in line with what big tech funders who are worried about what they see as liberal bias in major AI platforms like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini want. This project is part of his larger battle against “woke” and “anti-Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI) policies. He said that his administration would get rid of Biden-era AI rules that look at risky AI technology based on things like “misinformation, diversity, equity and inclusion, and climate change.” Civil rights groups and AI ethicists have criticized this method because they think it could lead to AI systems that are unfair or dangerous.

President Trump is scheduled to sign three executive orders about AI to put parts of this plan into action. These directives come after he told his tech advisors in January to come up with a plan to move AI policies forward in six months. The announcement shows that the administration’s approach to AI governance is changing quickly. Earlier this year, the Trump administration cancelled a number of Biden-era AI executive actions, including one that focused on the “Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence.” This shows that the government is moving toward less regulatory oversight to speed up innovation and market dominance.
