Washington DC [US], June 22: U.S. President Donald Trump announced a “very successful military operation” targeting three key nuclear facilities in Iran and confirmed he will address the nation at 10:00 PM local time (7:30 AM IST on Sunday, June 23) from the White House.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump hailed the strikes as a “historic moment for the United States, Israel, and the world” and urged Iran to agree to end the ongoing conflict.
“I will be giving an Address to the Nation… regarding our very successful military operation in Iran… IRAN MUST NOW AGREE TO END THIS WAR,” Trump wrote.
The U.S. military reportedly struck Iran’s nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan, with Fordow receiving a full payload of bombs. Trump confirmed that the mission was completed successfully and that all U.S. aircraft had exited Iranian airspace without incident.
These strikes mark the formal entry of the United States into the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. Earlier in the week, Israel had launched its own strikes, dubbed “Operation Rising Lion”, hitting multiple Iranian military and nuclear sites.
The Fordow and Natanz sites are Iran’s main uranium enrichment facilities. Natanz had already been targeted by Israeli forces with smaller weapons earlier this week. Esfahan, the third site struck by the U.S., reportedly holds a stockpile of near-weapons-grade enriched uranium.
Multiple U.S. B-2 stealth bombers were seen taking off from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri late Friday. While not officially confirmed as participants in the attack, CNN reported the bombers were en route toward Guam and are capable of carrying 30,000-pound “bunker buster” bombs, specifically designed to target underground facilities like Fordow.
The conflict has now entered its ninth day. After Israel’s initial offensive, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) responded with a massive drone and missile counterattack—‘Operation True Promise 3’—aimed at Israeli jet fuel production and energy supply sites.
With the U.S. now actively involved, global attention has intensified, and Trump has signaled that a path to peace must now be pursued.
