Washington DC [US]: In a blistering post on Truth Social, US President Donald Trump launched a fierce attack on the previous Joe Biden administration, accusing unnamed “handlers” of committing treason through alleged open border policies that, he claimed, endangered national security and nearly destroyed the country.
Trump alleged that Biden’s team exploited his cognitive decline, using an autopen to sign policies the former president claims Biden himself would never have supported. He charged that these actions facilitated the unchecked entry of criminals, drug dealers, and the mentally unstable into the country — costing taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars.
“Joe Biden was not for Open Borders… It was the people that knew he was cognitively impaired, and that took over the Autopen. They stole the Presidency of the United States, and put us in Great Danger. This is TREASON at the Highest Level!” Trump declared.
He went on to accuse these “handlers” of deliberately undermining the country, calling for severe consequences:
“Something very severe should happen to these Treasonous Thugs… but couldn’t, because I came along. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
These remarks come amid heightened scrutiny over President Biden’s health and cognitive ability, fueled by revelations from the new book, “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again”, co-authored by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson. The book cites internal White House discussions about Biden’s physical struggles, including the possibility of using a wheelchair during a second term — though such measures were reportedly avoided during the 2024 campaign for political optics.
CNN reports that Biden’s doctor, Kevin O’Connor, warned staff about the risks of a fall, which could be “catastrophic.” Efforts were made to limit his physical exertion, such as installing handrails, shortening routes, and avoiding steep staircases.
Trump has previously criticized Biden’s immigration strategy, labeling it an “Open Borders Policy”, and has repeatedly framed his own presidency as a necessary intervention to save the country. In January, he accused the Biden administration of neglecting national security and focusing instead on attacking him, even urging the CIA to intervene.
As the 2025 political climate intensifies, Trump’s rhetoric signals an aggressive tone for what appears to be an escalating battle over legacy, legitimacy, and leadership capacity.
