Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday emphasized the significant progress the state has made in improving health services and medical education. Speaking at a program held at booth no 5 of Mandwi Mandal at Mailuma School ground, he provided updates on various healthcare initiatives and plans for the future.

- Free Kidney Transplants and Future Plans:
Saha announced that the state is now successfully performing kidney transplants free of cost. Looking ahead, the government is working on plans to introduce bone marrow and liver transplants in the near future to further enhance healthcare services. - Boosting Medical Education:
To improve medical education, the state has significantly increased the number of seats in medical colleges. Currently, about 400 doctors graduate annually from Tripura’s medical colleges, with Tripura Medical College now offering 100 seats and plans to add 50 more seats. - Investment in Super Speciality Health Services:
The state government has set up a super speciality department at an investment of approximately Rs 250 crore. Additionally, plans are in place to build super speciality hospitals with an estimated cost of Rs 700 crore. Land for these projects has already been identified, and once completed, residents will no longer need to travel outside the state for specialized treatment. Notably, renowned companies from outside the state have expressed interest in providing top-quality healthcare services. - Support from the Central Government:
Chief Minister Saha acknowledged the continuous support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, especially through the Act East Policy, which has helped strengthen healthcare and other infrastructure in the state. - Welfare of the People and Self-Reliance Initiatives:
The Chief Minister underscored the government’s efforts to improve the welfare of the people by focusing on their needs. He highlighted the rise in the number of self-help groups from 4,000-5,000 to about 56,000, a significant boost for community empowerment. Since the current government came to power, over 13,000 government jobs have been provided transparently. - Key National Developments:
Saha also mentioned the airing of the 117th episode of Mann Ki Baat, where Prime Minister Modi addressed topics such as the 75th anniversary of the Constitution, Mahakumbh, the Digital Media Conclave, and the Bastar Olympics.
