Tripura CM Manik Saha Hands Over Appointment Letters to 975 Police Constables, Emphasizes Transparent Recruitment

Agartala (Tripura) [India]: In a major stride towards enhancing law enforcement in Tripura, Chief Minister Manik Saha presided over a ceremony at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan on Tuesday, where 975 newly selected police constables—comprising 643 men and 332 women—were handed their appointment letters.

Speaking at the event, CM Saha emphasized the transparency and merit-based nature of the recruitment process.

“This process was conducted step by step and completely based on merit, without influence or recommendation. Jobs were earned through hard work, not references,” he stated.

Transparent and Systematic Recruitment

The recruitment follows a comprehensive verification and selection process carried out by the Tripura Police Headquarters. A meeting held the previous day brought together officials and selected candidates to outline final procedures and formalities. The merit list, recently released by the police department, included candidates cleared after rigorous background checks.

Series of Statewide Recruitment Drives

This police recruitment initiative is the latest in a series of employment generation efforts by the state government. In April, appointment letters were distributed for multiple posts across departments, including the Tripura State Cooperative Bank. Last month, 228 teaching candidates received offers at a similar event at Nazrul Kalakshetra, with a deadline of May 15 for acceptance and postings expected shortly thereafter.

Expanding Opportunities in Healthcare

Highlighting efforts beyond law enforcement, CM Saha also reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure. The state has already recruited 153 nursing staff in 2024, and the process is underway to hire 332 more nurses, including 100 on a contractual basis, with funding already approved by the Finance Department.

“We are actively creating and filling vacancies across departments to accelerate development and improve public service delivery,” CM Saha added.

A Model for Proactive Governance

The state government’s rapid and consistent pace of recruitment has drawn positive attention from various sectors. By addressing staffing gaps in critical areas such as policing, education, and healthcare, the Saha administration is being recognized for its proactive approach to public welfare and employment generation.
