Trinamool Congress To Support AAP In Delhi Assembly Elections

New Delhi [India], January 28: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Shatrughan Sinha will actively campaign for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. According to sources, Sinha will kick off his campaign in the Purvanchal-dominated areas of Delhi starting January 31.

Earlier, AAP announced that the Samajwadi Party (SP) would also campaign for the party in the upcoming elections. TMC, SP, Shiv Sena UBT, and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Sharad Pawar have already expressed their support for AAP in Delhi.

As part of the campaigning efforts, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal will hold a joint roadshow in the Rithala constituency on January 30. Additionally, several MPs from the Samajwadi Party, including Kairana MP Iqra Hasan, will also be campaigning for AAP candidates.

While AAP and Congress both belong to the INDIA alliance, they are contesting the Delhi Assembly elections separately, leading to a division of support within the alliance. However, key allies like SP have expressed their support for AAP.

Akhilesh Yadav has reiterated that the INDIA alliance remains “intact,” emphasizing that the understanding was to support regional parties where they are strong.

The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, 2025, with the results to be declared on February 8. In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP secured a sweeping victory, winning 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP managed only 8 seats.
