New Zealand pacer Trent Boult reached a major career milestone by completing 300 wickets in T20 cricket during Mumbai Indians’ thumping 100-run win over Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Friday.
The left-arm speedster achieved the feat in just his 257th T20 match. Boult, known for his deadly powerplay spells, returned figures of 3/28 in 2.1 overs, despite being slightly expensive early on.
Boult’s 300th wicket came in the form of Jofra Archer, capping off Rajasthan’s innings at 117. His other victims included Yashasvi Jaiswal, whom he bowled clean, and Nitish Rana, caught by Tilak Varma. With 302 wickets now, Boult joins fellow Kiwis Tim Southee (343) and Ish Sodhi (310) in the elite 300-wicket club.
He’s now third in the Purple Cap race this season with 16 wickets at an average of 21.00 and best figures of 4/26.
