Washington [US], February 20: Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce is eagerly looking forward to his debut as a film producer with My Dead Friend Zoe, the first feature film on which he serves as an executive producer. Speaking about the project, Kelce expressed his enthusiasm in a statement, sharing his pride in being part of the meaningful film.
“Being part of My Dead Friend Zoe as an executive producer has been an incredible experience,” Kelce said. The film, which tells the story of an Army veteran (played by Sonequa Martin-Green) grappling with PTSD after the death of her fellow soldier (played by Natalie Morales), aims to highlight the challenges faced by veterans.
“My hope is to continue working on meaningful projects like this – stories that entertain, inspire, and make a real impact,” Kelce continued. He also praised the film for putting two strong female characters at the forefront, emphasizing their strength, resilience, and leadership.
Kelce was especially appreciative of the performances by Sonequa Martin-Green and Natalie Morales, noting that they brought depth and authenticity to their roles.
Director Kyle Hausmann-Stokes shared his gratitude for having Kelce on board as an executive producer, acknowledging that although their schedules didn’t align for him to visit the set, Kelce’s involvement was motivated by his support for the military and veterans.
Hausmann-Stokes also described it as “surreal” when Kelce signed on as a producer, noting that Kelce’s involvement brought significant attention and energy to the project. He added that the entire team, including the 90% veteran cast, was committed to making the film for social impact and greater causes.
My Dead Friend Zoe is set to premiere in theatres on February 28.
