Dhaka, Bangladesh – Bangladesh’s interim Chief Adviser, Muhammad Yunus, today expressed deep sorrow and offered condolences following a devastating crash involving a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft. The F-7 BGI jet plummeted into the campus of Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Diabari area on Monday, resulting in at least 16 fatalities and over 100 injuries.
“It was an irreparable loss for the air force staff, students, parents and teachers and a moment of deep grief for the nation,” Yunus stated, conveying the gravity of the incident that has shaken the country.
In an official statement, Yunus articulated his profound shock: “I express deep shock and sorrow over the tragic incident of the Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training aircraft crash on the campus of Milestone School and College in the Diabari area of the capital today, which resulted in casualties.”

The accident, which occurred while students were either taking tests or attending regular classes, has caused immense suffering. “The loss suffered by the air force personnel, students, parents, teachers, staff of Milestone School and College, and others in this accident is irreparable. This is a moment of deep grief for the nation,” he added, emphasizing the widespread impact of the tragedy.
The office of Muhammad Yunus confirmed that more than 100 people were injured, with at least 83 currently receiving treatment in various hospitals.
The Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI aircraft, used for training purposes, took off from a nearby base at 1:06 PM local time before crashing into the school campus.
In response to the casualties, the Chief Adviser announced the activation of an emergency hotline at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
