Tori Spelling Opens Up About Life As A Single Mom: “I Don’t Want To Die Alone”

Washington [US]: Actress Tori Spelling has candidly opened up about navigating life as a single mother of five, revealing her emotional struggles, vulnerability, and fears about the future following her recent divorce.

Speaking on her misSPELLING podcast during a heartfelt conversation with singer Aubrey O’Day, the Beverly Hills, 90210 star shared how she’s coping after ending her 18-year marriage to actor Dean McDermott.

“I’m now 51 and single again with five kids, so I don’t even know where I stand in the future,” Spelling admitted, according to People.

💔 Divorce and the Reality of Single Motherhood

Spelling officially filed for divorce from McDermott in March 2024, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple married in May 2006 and share five children together:

  • Liam, 18
  • Stella, 16
  • Hattie, 13
  • Finn, 12
  • Beau, 8

Though she is not currently on dating apps, Spelling expressed her inner conflict between craving companionship and needing space.

“I don’t want to be with somebody, but I do want to be. I just don’t want to be alone,” she said.

😢 Vulnerability and Fear of Loneliness

At one point during the episode, Spelling became emotional and broke down in tears.

“You know me. I’m positive. I just — I don’t want to die alone,” she confessed.

Her friend O’Day comforted her, saying, “You’re not going to die alone. I’m here. First of all. Listen to me.” Spelling responded, “I don’t know what I’m doing right now.”

🧠 Confidence Struggles Despite Fame

Spelling also opened up about her lifelong battle with confidence despite her public persona.

“I think people assume when you’re in this business, you’re an actor and you’re famous and you speak [that] you’re so confident,” she shared.
“I’ve had a lack of confidence my entire life, and I never felt worthy enough.”

Her raw and honest conversation resonated with listeners, shedding light on the often-hidden emotional toll of fame, motherhood, and personal reinvention.
