Tom Holland Unveils Bold New Spider-Man Suit For “Brand New Day” Film

Los Angeles, California: Tom Holland has officially shown off his new Spider-Man suit for the new Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” which comes out on July 31, 2026. After a short teaser on Friday, August 1 (National Spider-Man Day), the big reveal happened on Saturday morning with a longer film that showed Holland coming out of the shadows in his new suit.

“Are we ready?” In the video, Holland asks, showing off an outfit that looks more like the famous comic book version than the ones he has worn before. The new costume has brighter reds and blues and a bigger spider symbol than the ones in “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “Far From Home,” and “No Way Home.”

“Brand New Day” Comes After the Events of “No Way Home” That Changed Reality

“Brand New Day” is the fourth Spider-Man movie that Sony and Disney have made on their own in the MCU. It follows the huge success of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021). This will be Holland’s first time back in the MCU since he worked with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in “No Way Home,” which was a big deal.

Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio shocked everyone by revealing Peter Parker’s true identity as Spider-Man at the end of 2019’s “Far From Home.” Peter asked Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, for aid in casting a spell that would make everyone forget who he really was. But the spell went wrong and brought in web-slingers and their enemies from other realities into the MCU. After teaming together to fight these dangers from other universes, Peter had the hard choice to let Doctor Strange finish the spell, which forced everyone, including his girlfriend MJ Watson-Jones (Zendaya) and best friend Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), to forget who he is. Sadly, Peter’s Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) also passed away in the movie.

Comic book ideas and new characters are introduced

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is based on the Spider-Man comic book series of the same name. In the comics, this story arc had Spidey make a pact with the devil Mephisto to erase the world’s memory of who he was and bring Aunt May back to life. However, it also ended his marriage to MJ and started his world over again. It is still unclear how closely the movie will stick to these exact comic book plot themes, especially the magical ones.

Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” will be in charge of the movie. Sadie Sink (from “Stranger Things”) and Liza Colón-Zayas will also be joining the cast, bringing fresh characters to the MCU. The movie will also feature fan-favorite vigilante The Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal, and Bruce Banner, or the Hulk, played by Mark Ruffalo. This means that Spider-Man will have an exciting new chapter.
