Los Angeles, CA: Filming has officially begun on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the next movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man franchise. Tom Holland will once again wear the famous red and blue outfit. Fans are quite excited, especially since set leaks and official news point to a fresh path for the web-slinger and an unexpected group of antagonists.
The movie, which comes out on July 31, 2026, has gotten a lot of attention for its cast. Some of the characters from the comics will be in it, and some of the fan-favorites will be back. Leaked footage from the set has indicated that Jon Bernthal will play the Punisher again, which will be his first time in the MCU. This has made people wonder if the two heroes with differing moral codes will work together or fight each other.
Mark Ruffalo’s comeback as the Hulk is another big surprise. The Hulk is a member of the Avengers, yet he has fought Spider-Man in the comics, usually because of mind control or misunderstandings. This match-up will be a battle of brains and strength, with Spider-Man’s speed and intelligence going up against the Hulk’s brute force.
Michael Mando will also reprise his role as Mac Gargan, the Scorpion, a villain who was first alluded at in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Scorpion, who has deadly stingers and supercharged armor, has led to ideas about the Sinister Six, a group of Spider-Man villains from the comics.
Daniel Richtman, a well-known movie scooper, says that Spider-Man will also face a number of other enemies, such as Tombstone, an albino gangster and criminal mastermind; Tarantula, a skilled human fighter; Boomerang, who uses different types of boomerangs in his crimes; and Ramrod, a half-man, half-cyborg with more strength and durability.
The actual storyline details and the main villain’s identity are still a secret, but the addition of these characters suggests that the story will be more grounded and take place on the street, unlike the universe-changing events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Brand New Day is the name of the movie, and it is a direct reference to a controversial comic book narrative that changed Spider-Man’s status quo after his identity was erased from public consciousness. The MCU movie looks to be following this idea.
