Washington DC [US], April 10: Marvel fans rejoice—Tom Hiddleston is officially returning as the beloved trickster Loki in the highly anticipated ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, joining a mega ensemble cast that includes both classic Avengers and newcomers from the X-Men and Fantastic Four universes.
In an interview with ComicBook, Hiddleston confirmed his return, expressing excitement for what’s to come. “I’m very, very excited,” he said, as quoted by Deadline. “It’s really remarkable that I can talk about it because mostly I’m in a position of knowing and not being able to say anything… It’s been an extraordinary chapter of my life playing Loki, and it’s not over yet.”
Though Loki was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, the character’s journey has continued through alternate timelines, especially in the Disney+ series Loki, which wrapped its second season in 2023. His appearance in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania marked his latest on-screen MCU cameo.
Hiddleston first appeared as Loki in 2011’s Thor and quickly became a fan-favorite anti-hero and primary villain in The Avengers (2012). His character has played a central role across multiple MCU phases, and his return in Avengers: Doomsday is expected to deepen the franchise’s multiversal narrative.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’, directed by the Russo Brothers, is slated to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, and will be followed by ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ on May 7, 2027.
Alongside Hiddleston, the confirmed cast for Doomsday includes:
