Seoul [South Korea], May 26 : Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee, currently part of a multi-party Indian delegation visiting South Korea, delivered a strong message against Pakistan’s support for terrorism during an engagement with strategic think tanks in Seoul.
Speaking at the event, Banerjee stated, “We want to tell the world that any support to Pakistan is a support to a terror organisation. The 22nd April Pahalgam terror attack is no longer just a matter of India’s national security; it has become a global imperative.” He stressed that Pakistan has long harboured terrorist elements and asserted, “If you look at the trajectory of the economies of India and Pakistan, there’s a difference between hell and heaven. The attack in Pahalgam is proof that they don’t want the Indian economy to prosper.”
Banerjee is part of a multi-party delegation led by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, tasked with engaging international partners on India’s fight against terrorism following the April 22 attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam region.
Earlier in the day, Jha met with Yun Ho-jung, Chairperson of the Korea-India Parliamentary Friendship Group at the National Assembly of South Korea. The delegation also met with Indian Ambassador to South Korea, Amit Kumar, at the Indian Embassy in Seoul.
Before arriving in Seoul, the delegation visited Japan and is scheduled to hold similar engagements in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. The mission’s aim is to counter global misinformation and emphasize India’s firm stance on cross-border terrorism.
The delegation’s efforts come in the wake of Operation Sindoor, launched by India on May 7 in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack. The operation targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK), sending a clear signal of India’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism.
Following retaliatory strikes by India, Pakistani forces initiated further military aggression, to which the Indian Armed Forces responded by targeting Pakistani airbases. The situation de-escalated after a direct communication between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries, leading to a temporary halt in military operations.
The delegation continues its diplomatic tour to reinforce international solidarity against terrorism and affirm India’s commitment to global peace and regional security.
