TMC Unveils ‘Abar Jitbe Bangla’ Campaign Song, Targets BJP Ahead of West Bengal Polls

The Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday launched its official campaign song, Abar Jitbe Bangla (Bengal Will Win Again), as the party gears up for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections. Along with rallying supporters, the song takes a sharp swipe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of attacking Bengal’s identity and democratic rights.

Sharing the song on its official social media handle, the TMC said it was designed to “ignite every corner of Bengal” and reflect the state’s spirit of resistance. The lyrics, “Jotoi Koro Hamla, Abar Jitbe Bangla” (No matter how many attacks you launch, Bengal will win again), underline a message of defiance against what the party describes as repeated political and institutional pressure from the BJP.

According to the TMC, the song captures the essence of its long-standing slogan Ma-Mati-Manush (Mother, Soil, People) and represents the pride and cultural heritage of the state. Visuals in the campaign video highlight Bengal’s legacy through figures such as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Swami Vivekananda and Rabindranath Tagore, reinforcing the message that Bengal’s voice cannot be silenced easily.

The video also features pointed visuals aimed at the BJP, including clips of Prime Minister Narendra Modi accompanied by the line “Aage nijer maati shamla” (Take care of your own land first). This is followed by scenes of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee leading protest marches.

Reacting to the launch, Abhishek Banerjee accused the BJP of being “Bangla-birodhi” (anti-Bengal) and alleged that the party was attempting to undermine democracy by suppressing dissent and misusing central agencies. He claimed that having failed to gain the trust of Bengal’s people, the BJP was now resorting to tactics that threaten citizens’ voting rights.

With the release of Abar Jitbe Bangla, the TMC has signalled an aggressive campaign narrative centred on regional pride, resistance and a direct political confrontation with the BJP ahead of the elections.
