DUBAI – Team India beat their biggest adversary, Pakistan, by five wickets in the final of the Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday. The players had some good-natured banter after the game that instantly went viral on social media, showing a lighter side of the heated rivalry.
Tilak Varma, the night’s hero, won the match with 69 runs off 53 balls without losing. His calm innings, which featured a crucial six off Haris Rauf in the last over, helped the Men in Blue win their eighth Asia Cup title.
After the win, a funny video of pacer Arshdeep Singh and Varma talking was shared on Singh’s official Instagram account. Arshdeep playfully asked his teammate questions while imitating a meme with a Pakistan player’s accent.
“Final match you play, what’s going on?” Arshdeep wanted to know.
Varma replied in the same dialect at first, with a straight face: “Nothing is happening.” There is no one to talk to. “The ground is empty.” The pacer asked the same question again, and Varma smiled and said, “A lot going on.” “Winning, partying, and a lot going on.”
The banter continued with another player, Abhishek Sharma, who did well in the tournament but didn’t do well in the final. When Arshdeep asked him the same question, Sharma smiled and said, “Good happening.” Final match, things don’t always go well.
Fans who liked how close the players were with each other have shared the footage all over social media, and they have gotten a lot of laughs and thanks. The funny parts were a nice change from the tight mood of the match, which was also overshadowed by off-field controversy surrounding the trophy presentation.
The BCCI said that the winning team and its support personnel would each get ₹21 crore as a reward for their amazing performance and for not losing any games during the tournament.
