Three Soldiers Killed As Army Truck Plunges Into Gorge In J&K’s Ramban District

Ramban (Jammu and Kashmir): In a tragic incident on Sunday, three Indian Army soldiers lost their lives after their truck fell nearly 500 metres into a gorge at Battery Chashma in Ramban district, officials confirmed.

According to Ramban Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulbir Singh, the army truck was part of a convoy when the driver lost control, leading to the fatal plunge. “Three people were in the vehicle. Unfortunately, all three died,” Singh said.

Emergency response units from the police, the Army, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Quick Reaction Teams (QRT) rushed to the scene to retrieve the bodies.

Preliminary investigations suggest mechanical failure as the possible cause. “During inspection, we found a nut bolt that appears to have come from the steering mechanism. It seems the driver lost control due to a failure in the steering system,” SSP Singh explained, adding that a detailed probe is underway.

The accident has sent shockwaves through the region and the armed forces community, as authorities continue their efforts to recover the remains and ascertain the full cause of the incident.
