Three Arrested for Felony Charges After Shooting at Houston Youth Baseball Field

The Waller County Sheriff’s Office said that three people have been arrested for the shooting that happened on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Ameripark youth baseball field (also called The Rac) in Katy, Texas. Around 9:45 a.m., when a youth baseball team was praying before the game, the event happened.

Coach Gets Praise for Being Brave

The gunfire, which came from a nearby property where people were reportedly shooting for fun approximately 600 meters away, hurt a 27-year-old baseball coach. Video of the event showed the scary moment when players and coaches ran for shelter.

The coach, who was said to have been hit in the shoulder, was swiftly given medical help on the field and then taken to a hospital. That same day, he was let go.

Andy Baize, who started the Houston Warriors, told local news that the coach was a hero, saying, “He literally took the bullet for a child who was to his left.” Baize said that the coach’s immediate thought after being hit was “to get down to the ground, cover his kids, and get them to a safe place.”

The Waller County Sheriff’s Office stressed how severe the accusations were by saying, “These charges show how serious it is to fire guns in a way that puts lives at risk.” All activities at the sports complex have been put on hold until the investigation is over.
