New Delhi [India]: Former Puducherry Lieutenant Governor and retired IPS officer Kiran Bedi has praised the Indian Armed Forces and the Government of India for the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, calling it a decisive “action” rather than a reaction to terrorism.
In an interview with ANI, Bedi remarked, “Nine sites were attacked, and all of them were terror factories. The Government of India did exactly what it promised. This is not a reaction but an action—planned meticulously over 15 days. This reflects the capability and resolve of our government.”
Operation Sindoor was launched on Wednesday morning in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians were brutally killed. The coordinated military operation targeted nine terror camps located deep within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
During a press briefing, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi provided operational details. Wing Commander Singh stated the objective was to deliver justice to the victims of Pahalgam and emphasized that care was taken to avoid civilian casualties or infrastructure damage.
Colonel Qureshi presented video evidence of the destroyed terror camps, including Muridke, a known training ground for David Headley and Ajmal Kasab, the perpetrators of the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Other key targets included Sarjal camp in Sialkot, Markaz Ahle Hadith (Barnala), Markaz Abbas (Kotli), and Mehmoona Joya camp (Sialkot).
Foreign Secretary Misri highlighted the barbarity of the Pahalgam attack, noting that victims were executed at close range in front of their families, aiming to terrorize and destabilize the return of peace in Jammu and Kashmir. “This was a calculated effort to disrupt normalcy. Our response was proportionate, non-escalatory, and focused on disabling terror infrastructure,” he said.
Operation Sindoor, involving precise coordination between the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, is being viewed as one of India’s most significant military responses in decades, especially given the depth of the strikes into undisputed Pakistani territory.
