Third Arrest Made In Greater Noida Dowry Murder Case; Victim’s Brother-In-Law Apprehended

GREATER NOIDA – Rohit Bhati, Nikki Bhati’s brother-in-law, has been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police in connection with her death. The arrest, which happened on Monday morning, is the third in this case. Rohit is married to Kanchan, Nikki’s sister. Kanchan was also attacked by the family.

The most recent arrest comes after a number of quick police measures. Police arrested Vipin Bhati, Nikki’s husband, on Saturday after he attempted to flee and sustained injuries. He has since been put in judicial custody for 14 days. On Sunday, Vipin’s mother, Daya Bhati, was taken into custody.

The inquiry has found a scary reason for the murder. Police say that Vipin not only wanted a dowry of ₹36 lakh, but he also aggressively opposed Nikki’s plans to reopen her beauty business and upload videos on Instagram. The police said that on the day of the murder, Nikki told Vipin that she was going to reopen the parlor, which led to a violent dispute. It is said that Vipin warned her that these kinds of things were “not allowed” in their family, which led to a severe attack.

Nikki’s sister Kanchan recorded disturbing videos of the incident that have been posted on social media. The video shows a man pouring something on Nikki before he sets her on fire. According to reports, Nikki’s six-year-old son, who saw the terrible event happen, told the police, “They poured something on my mother, slapped her, and then set her on fire with a lighter.”

The family of the victim said that Nikki, who married Vipin in 2016, had been tortured and forced to give up her dowry since two years into their marriage. They said that even after getting them a Scorpio and a motorcycle, the harassment didn’t stop.

The police have filed charges against Vipin, his mother Daya, and his brother Rohit. Satyavir Bhati, the father-in-law, is still on the run. The story has made people angry all around the country, bringing attention to the ongoing problem of dowry violence and domestic abuse in India.
