Washington [US], December 19: A new trailer for Netflix’s upcoming sci-fi film The Electric State has been released, showcasing Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt navigating a dystopian world torn apart by a war between humans and machines. Directed by the Russo brothers, Anthony and Joe Russo, the film is set to premiere on March 14, 2025.
Set in the 1990s, The Electric State follows the journey of a teenager, portrayed by Brown, who embarks on a mission to find her missing younger brother, accompanied by her robot companion. Along the way, they join forces with a wanderer, played by Pratt, as they traverse a chaotic, post-apocalyptic world left in the aftermath of a devastating conflict between humans and robots.
The film features an impressive ensemble cast, including Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Woody Norman, Giancarlo Esposito, and Stanley Tucci. Prominent voice actors such as Woody Harrelson, Anthony Mackie, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Hank Azaria, Colman Domingo, and Alan Tudyk also lend their voices to the film.
In the teaser, Brown’s character reflects on the consequences of the war, saying, “Right now, all of us have something in common. We all lost something after the rebellion. Robots lost their freedom. Humans lost connection with each other. And I lost everyone I loved – or so I thought.”
The film is adapted from Simon Stalenhag’s 2018 novel The Electric State, with a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The Russo brothers, known for their work on Avengers: Endgame and The Gray Man, direct the film, which is produced by Mike Larocca, Angela Russo-Otstot, Chris Castaldi, and Patrick Newall.
