New Delhi, July 6: A Thai Lion Air Bangkok-bound flight that was grounded at Kolkata Airport due to a technical issue during taxiing early July 5 has resumed operations successfully, airport authorities confirmed Sunday.
Flight TLM242 arrived in Kolkata at 1:23 AM IST on July 5 from Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport, carrying 151 passengers. Scheduled to depart as TLM243, the Boeing 737-800 experienced a technical malfunction shortly after pushback at 2:35 AM IST, prompting pilots to return the aircraft to the bay by 2:43 AM. The outbound flight was cancelled, and 130 passengers were accommodated overnight at local hotels.
The aircraft’s extended stay also delayed an incoming Qatar Airways flight by 25 minutes due to stand unavailability.
Following thorough inspections and technical clearance, a rescheduled flight under call sign SL243D departed Kolkata at 6:17 AM IST on July 6, carrying 96 passengers to Bangkok, restoring normal operations for Thai Lion Air.
Airport officials commended ground staff and airline teams for efficiently handling the incident and minimizing passenger inconvenience.
