As tensions rise between India and Pakistan following the bold and strategic Operation Sindoor, political reactions and on-ground developments continue to shape the national mood.
🔹 BJP MP Nishikant Dubey Urges Crackdown on “Pakistani Mentality”
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has called upon the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) to shut down social media accounts of individuals exhibiting a “Pakistani mentality.”
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he stated:
“This is a time of war; freedom of expression does not apply now. @MIB_India @MIB_Hindi should shut down people with Pakistani mentality on social media, YouTube. They are making their nonsense an international issue.”
His statement reflects growing concern within the political establishment over online narratives that may undermine national unity during a period of heightened military alertness.
🔹 Congress MP Urges Restraint, Denies Panic in Amritsar
Meanwhile, Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla has appealed for public calm amid mock drills and air force activity in Punjab. He confirmed that Amritsar Airport will remain closed until May 10 but emphasized:
“There’s no need to panic. Our Army is standing tall. Do not hoard rations. Maintain peace.”
Aujla also cautioned citizens against spreading unauthenticated information, underlining the dangers of misinformation during national security operations.
🔹 Ceasefire Violations: Indian Army Responds Proportionately
The Indian Army issued a statement on Thursday, confirming that it responded proportionately to unprovoked firing by the Pakistan Army across the Line of Control (LoC) during the night of May 7–8. The Pakistani forces used small arms and artillery guns, targeting Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, and Akhnoor sectors.
India’s response comes after nine terror camps across Pakistan and PoJK were destroyed in precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, a counter-terror operation launched in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22.
🔴 Civilian Casualties Reported
According to defence sources, 15 civilians have been killed and 43 injured due to Pakistani artillery fire targeting Poonch and Tangdhar civilian areas since last night.
This marks a grave escalation, with Pakistan seemingly resorting to retaliatory attacks on civilian populations following the decimation of terror infrastructure by Indian forces.
🔚 Summary
With political leaders taking strong stands, the Army maintaining operational readiness, and civilians caught in the crossfire, the situation remains highly volatile. India continues to assert its stance of zero tolerance for terrorism, while the international community watches closely.
