A shocking case of suspected filicide and suicide has rocked Malkapur village under the Kondapur police station limits in Sangareddy district, Telangana. A man, identified as Subhash, allegedly killed his two children—Ritwik (13) and Aradhya (9)—before dying by suicide.
The incident is believed to have taken place three days ago, but only came to light after neighbours reported a foul smell emanating from the house on Monday morning.
“Yesterday around 9 am, we received a phone call reporting a decomposed smell from a room. Upon reaching the spot, we found that two children and their father had died,” said the Inspector of Kondapur police station.
Subhash was employed as a lab technician, and initial police suspicions indicate he may have taken the drastic step following a dispute with his wife. The children’s bodies were found inside the house, while Subhash is believed to have hanged himself after allegedly murdering them.
The bodies were shifted to a local hospital for a post-mortem examination. Officials stated that the bodies were in an advanced state of decomposition, suggesting the incident occurred several days prior to discovery.
“We suspect the father killed his children and then committed suicide. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway,” added the police.
The tragedy has left the local community in mourning, with many neighbours expressing deep sorrow and disbelief over the loss of two young lives.
Authorities are probing all possible angles, including mental health issues and family disputes, to determine the exact sequence of events and the motive behind the crime.
