In a fiery speech during the Congress’ ‘Jai Hind Yatra’ in Nizampet, Hyderabad, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to call a ceasefire after India’s military operations against Pakistan under Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
“Why was no all-party meeting called to seek the opinions of all the parties before declaring a ceasefire?” Reddy asked, pointing out that while political parties were consulted before the strikes began, they were left out when hostilities ceased.
CM Reddy took a sharp swipe at PM Modi, calling him an “expired rupee”, likening him to a demonetised ₹1000 note, and argued that only Rahul Gandhi has the vision and courage to truly defend India’s interests.
“If Rahul Gandhi had been Prime Minister, he would have taken back Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK),” he declared, drawing parallels with former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s decisive leadership during the 1971 war with Pakistan which led to the creation of Bangladesh.
He further asserted:
“Rahul Gandhi, inspired by Indira Gandhi and Maa Kaali, would have split Pakistan into two and reclaimed PoK.”
CM Reddy also raised questions over the performance of Rafale fighter jets purchased under Modi’s government, alleging that Pakistan had downed some of them during the military confrontation — a claim not officially substantiated.
“You spent thousands of crores to purchase Rafale jets and gave contracts to your close aides. Now tell us how many were destroyed by Pakistan?” he challenged.
The Telangana Chief Minister accused PM Modi of calling off the operation under pressure from former US President Donald Trump, stating:
“I had already declared my full support to split Pakistan into two. But the Modi government called off the war on Trump’s orders. Why?”
CM Reddy, speaking on behalf of the Telangana CMO, reiterated the Congress’ full support for merging PoK with India and accused the BJP’s Tiranga Rally of lowering the morale of Indian soldiers. In contrast, he said, Congress’ Jai Hind Yatra aims to restore confidence among the armed forces.
He concluded by urging party workers not to rest until Rahul Gandhi becomes Prime Minister, saying:
“Only a leader from the Gandhi family — which has sacrificed so much for the country — can defeat Pakistan and China and uphold India’s self-respect.”
