Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], February 25: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed his ambition to transform the state’s economy into a trillion-dollar economy within the next 10 years. He made this statement while participating in the inauguration of the BioAsia 2025 conference at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) on Tuesday.
In his address, CM Reddy highlighted various initiatives for the state’s growth and outlined his vision. He emphasized that the core urban areas of Telangana would evolve into service-only cities and hubs for net-zero emissions. He shared plans for creating futuristic projects such as Future City and AI City in Hyderabad, alongside the state’s rise as the EV (Electric Vehicle) capital of India, having achieved the highest sales of electric vehicles in the country.
“The core urban area will become a service-only city and a net-zero hub,” said the Chief Minister. “Outside this core urban area, I want to develop one of the world’s largest manufacturing hubs. I want to make it my offer to the world for its China plus One need.”
CM Reddy also stressed that despite Telangana being a landlocked state, the government is developing a mega-dry port, which will be well-connected to a seaport in neighboring Andhra Pradesh. Dedicated rail and road links will connect these two ports.
He also highlighted that BioAsia has successfully positioned Hyderabad as the world’s life sciences capital. The conference has attracted key players from the pharma, biotech, and healthcare sectors globally, further promoting the city’s status as a hub for innovation, research, and development in life sciences.
“BioAsia has been instrumental in guiding the world towards the future trajectory of the healthcare sector,” CM Reddy stated. “Many world-renowned pharma companies, healthcare, life science, and biotech companies are operating from Hyderabad.”
Additionally, he spoke about the state’s investment in higher education, research, and innovation, which has led to the establishment of Genome Valley, a key biotech cluster. Telangana has become a leader in attracting investments in life sciences, with Rs 40,000 crore invested in over 150 life sciences projects last year alone.
The state’s commitment to the electric vehicle sector was evident, as CM Reddy announced plans to introduce 3,000 electric buses to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) soon. He also outlined plans to develop a manufacturing hub between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Regional Ring Road (RRR), aiming to attract global investments.
CM Reddy also noted that Telangana had secured Rs 1.80 lakh crore in investments at the World Economic Forum in Davos, creating around 50,000 new jobs across various sectors. The state government has also signed MoUs with major pharmaceutical companies and is developing initiatives like Green Pharma City under the Future City project.
In conclusion, the Chief Minister encouraged global companies to take advantage of Telangana’s growing ecosystem, offering cooperation, simplified industrial policies, and support for investment. He celebrated the state’s position as the top performer in attracting investments from both domestic and international sources, asserting that Telangana’s future looks bright, with the creation of over five lakh new jobs projected in the coming years.
