Tejashwi Yadav Meets Bihar Governor Over Deteriorating Law And Order Situation

Patna (Bihar), February 5: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday met Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan to raise concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Yadav described the situation as chaotic and alarming, particularly highlighting incidents of violence and alleged targeting of a specific community.

Following the meeting, Yadav spoke to the media and condemned the increasing frequency of incidents such as firing, murders, and other crimes in the state. He pointed to a specific incident in Madhubani, calling it “horrifying,” and claimed that law enforcement had failed to effectively serve and protect the public.

Yadav accused the state police of acting with bias, particularly targeting Muslims, and claimed that common citizens were being tortured based on caste and religion. He also criticized the state’s police force for not taking action against officials allegedly involved in criminal activity, specifically citing a lack of repercussions for a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

“Even the police have people with such a mentality,” Yadav said, adding that no action had been taken against the DSP involved. He also lamented that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had become disconnected from the state’s issues, and suggested that his silence was contributing to the erosion of public trust.

According to Yadav, criminal elements have been emboldened under the protection of the state government, with ministers from both the state and central government allegedly defending criminal activities. He also expressed concern about rising crime rates, including murders, rapes, thefts, and extortion, and pointed out that Bihar has seen a spike in smuggling of liquor and drugs.

In his memorandum to the Governor, Yadav urged immediate action to address the deteriorating law and order situation, emphasizing the growing fear and insecurity among the public.
