Tejashwi Yadav Dismisses Claims Of Foreigners On Bihar Voter Lists, Slams NDA And Election Commission

Patna (Bihar), July 13 : RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has strongly rejected allegations that the Election Commission’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls in Bihar has uncovered names of individuals from Bangladesh, Nepal, and Myanmar. Calling the claims baseless, Yadav mocked the unnamed sources, equating them to rumor-mongers spreading bizarre stories.

“Who are these sources? These are the same sources that said Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore have been captured. ‘Ye sootra ko hum mootra samajhte hai’ (We consider these sources to be nonsense),” he said.

Yadav questioned the logic behind the accusations, pointing out that SIR was last conducted in 2003 under the UPA government, and several elections have taken place since then, including the general elections of 2014, 2019, and 2024, which the opposition lost by large margins. He sarcastically asked if that meant foreigners voted for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in those elections.

The RJD leader accused the NDA of being responsible if any “dubious names” had been added to the rolls, saying the ruling alliance must then own up to fraudulent electoral victories.

“This means all the elections they have won have been a fraud… SIR is a complete eyewash. The EC is working as a cell of a political party,” he alleged.

Yadav also targeted both the Centre and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, noting that the NDA has governed the state since 2005, and that PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have held key national roles for over a decade.

Meanwhile, ECI sources claimed that Booth Level Officers (BLOs), during house-to-house verification, encountered individuals possessing Aadhaar cards, ration cards, and domicile certificates who allegedly hail from neighboring countries. An inquiry is scheduled between August 1 and August 30, and any confirmed foreign names will be excluded from the final voter list to be published on September 30, 2025.

The voter revision exercise is part of preparations for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections later this year. As of now, 4.66 crore Enumeration Forms have been digitised and uploaded on ECINet, the Election Commission’s new integrated software that consolidates 40 older apps.
