Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav criticized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his government over the ongoing protests by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants, who are demanding a re-examination following allegations of a question paper leak.
Yadav asserted that a re-examination should be conducted for all candidates if the question paper leak allegations are proven true.
Tejashwi Yadav’s Remarks
Speaking to media, Yadav questioned Nitish Kumar’s leadership and accused his government of corruption and incompetence.
“Is there even a government here (in Bihar)? CM Nitish Kumar is not capable of taking decisions anymore. He is just a face now. If the (BPSC) question paper was leaked, then re-examination should be conducted for everyone,” Yadav said.
He further alleged, “This government is only of corrupt people. The CM is silent on all the issues. When our government was in power, youths were happy. Today, they are left with only marks on their bodies (due to repression under Nitish Kumar’s government). The CM seems lost and has become a part of history.”
BPSC’s Response
Rajesh Kumar Singh, Examination Controller of BPSC, dismissed the allegations of a paper leak as baseless, stating that there is no supporting evidence.
“The Commission has decided to conduct the Prelims Test again on January 4, 2025, for students from the Bapu Examination Centre, the only center where irregularities have been reported. We aim to release the results by the end of the month to ensure that the Mains can be conducted by April,” Singh said.
Singh also highlighted key statistics to address the controversy:
- Out of 4.49 lakh admit cards downloaded, only 3.38 lakh candidates appeared for the exam, indicating a significant gap.
- There were no reports of irregularities from 911 centers, apart from the Bapu Examination Centre.
Aspirants’ Demands
BPSC aspirants have been protesting for a re-examination, citing the alleged paper leak as an unfair advantage for some candidates. The protests have drawn widespread attention and raised concerns about the transparency and fairness of the recruitment process.
Political Implications
The issue has added fuel to the ongoing political rivalry between RJD and JD(U) in Bihar. Tejashwi Yadav’s sharp criticism of Nitish Kumar’s leadership could further escalate tensions as the state government navigates the controversy.
The BPSC protests are not just a challenge for the state’s examination system but also a potential flashpoint in Bihar’s political landscape as it faces mounting scrutiny over governance and accountability.
