Patna (Bihar) [India]: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav took a swipe at the timing of the visit, attributing it to the upcoming elections in the state.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Yadav said, “Elections are about to be held in Bihar. Every day, someone or the other will come to Bihar. These people are not concerned with Bihar’s progress and development, they are only concerned with elections. Why has Bihar not been given the status of a special state? Why has a special package not been provided? There will be tall claims until elections, and after that, everything will be forgotten.”
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, on Friday, confirmed that PM Modi is scheduled to visit Bhagalpur, Bihar, on February 24 for the distribution of the Krishi Samman Nidhi to farmers.
Highlighting the government’s efforts, Chouhan stated, “Work is being done in every sector for farmers, whether it is increasing production, reducing costs, paying fair prices, diversifying agriculture, or promoting organic and natural farming. I congratulate the CM of Bihar and the entire agricultural department for their efforts to benefit farmers here.”
He further added, “The central government will buy whatever lentils farmers want to sell at the Minimum Support Price. The Prime Minister will distribute the Krishi Samman Nidhi in Bhagalpur on February 24.”
Meanwhile, Yadav also criticized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the recent Mokama firing incident involving former MLA Anant Singh.
Accusing the state government of negligence, Yadav remarked, “The Chief Minister has become unwary. Now, ‘apradh’ (crime) has become a ‘aadat’ (habit), and ‘bhrastachar’ (corruption) has become ‘shistachar’ (decorum). Under the current government, such soul-crushing incidents have become the norm. The CM is silent over this incident.”
