MUMBAI – The trailer for the highly anticipated film Tehran, starring John Abraham, Manushi Chhillar, and Neeru Bajwa, has been released, confirming that the film will have a direct-to-OTT premiere on ZEE5 on August 14. Directed by Arun Gopalan and produced by Maddock Films, the film is a fictionalized account inspired by the 2012 bomb explosion near the Israeli Embassy in Delhi.
The trailer introduces John Abraham as ACP Rajeev Kumar, a police officer thrust into a covert, high-stakes international mission. The film’s narrative is set against a backdrop of bomb blasts in three different countries, and Rajeev finds himself caught in a web of shifting loyalties, abandoned by his own country and Israel, and hunted by Iran. The trailer teases a morally ambiguous protagonist, leaving viewers to question whether he is a true patriot or a rogue operative.
John Abraham, known for his action roles, has once again impressed fans with his intense performance. The trailer has garnered positive reactions on social media, with many users praising his style and comparing him to action stars of the past. The decision for a direct-to-OTT release has sparked some discussion among fans who felt the film deserved a theatrical run.
Speaking about the film, director Arun Gopalan said, “Tehran is a mirror held up to a fractured world. It is a story about shifting loyalties, blurred identities, and the human cost hidden in the shadows of global politics.” John Abraham added that his character is “not your conventional patriot” and that the film “isn’t about good versus evil—it’s about navigating the grey.”
The film, which also stars Madhurima Tuli, will be available for streaming just in time for India’s Independence Day, making it a patriotic and thrilling watch for audiences.
