Apple’s hit comedy series Ted Lasso is undergoing a recasting process for the role of Henry, the 12-year-old son of the titular character, played by Jason Sudeikis. According to Deadline, the producers are searching for a young actor to portray Henry, who is set to become a skilled soccer player in the new season.
Previously, child actor Gus Turner played Henry for the first three seasons of the show. However, the recasting decision comes as the new season will focus on Henry’s growing passion for soccer, necessitating stronger soccer skills for the actor portraying him.
Turner has been invited to audition for the role again, and there is a possibility he will reprise the character. However, the producers remain open to casting a new actor.
The upcoming season will also feature Ted coaching the AFC Richmond women’s team, a storyline that was introduced in the season 3 finale. While details about the new season’s plot are sparse, the show’s core cast—including Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift—are all expected to return for season 4, with Juno Temple in negotiations to join them. Production for the new season is currently underway.
