Technical Glitch Forces Air India Express Delhi-Jammu Flight To Return; Passengers Shifted To Alternate Aircraft

New Delhi: An Air India Express flight (IX2564) bound for Jammu from Delhi was forced to return to its departure airport on Monday morning following the detection of a technical issue mid-flight, the airline confirmed.

The Airbus A320 aircraft, originally scheduled to take off at 10:40 AM, departed at 11:04 AM but was diverted back to Delhi before reaching its destination. The flight was expected to arrive in Jammu at 12:05 PM, as per data from Flightradar24.

An Air India Express spokesperson addressed the incident, stating:

An alternative aircraft was arranged to operate our Delhi-Jammu flight after the original aircraft returned to Delhi due to a technical issue. We regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers.

The airline did not elaborate on the nature of the technical issue. However, all passengers were later accommodated on a replacement aircraft to complete their journey to Jammu.

This is the second recent operational disruption for Air India Express. On June 21, 2025, its Delhi-Patna flight (IX1014) was diverted to Varanasi due to adverse weather conditions over Patna.

Due to adverse weather conditions, the flight was temporarily diverted to Varanasi. Once weather conditions improved, the aircraft resumed its journey and safely landed in Patna. We regret the delay caused by circumstances beyond our control,” the airline’s spokesperson added.

Despite these incidents, no injuries or safety hazards to passengers were reported in either case. Air India Express emphasized that passenger safety remains its highest priority, and all decisions were made in accordance with established aviation protocols.
