New Delhi: Team India has made history in cricket by becoming the second country to play 250 T20 Internationals (T20Is). They attained this important goal on Friday when they played Oman in their last Group A match of the Asia Cup 2025.
India is now second on the list, behind only Pakistan, which has played 275 T20Is. New Zealand comes next with 235 T20Is, followed by the West Indies with 228 and Sri Lanka with 212.
Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of India, won the toss and chose to bat first. He said this was because the team wanted to test their batting depth before the Super 4s stage. “We haven’t batted first in this tournament yet, and we want to know how deep we are,” Suryakumar added. “Getting some game time is important before the Super 4s.”
India changed their playing XI by bringing in Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh to replace Varun Chakravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah.
Jatinder Singh, the captain of Oman, said he would have decided to bat first as well. He said that playing against a quality team like India was a great chance for his young team to get some experience. “It is a great chance to play against India and see how they think,” he remarked.
India’s starting lineup includes Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson (w), Suryakumar Yadav (c), Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Kuldeep Yadav.
Oman’s starting lineup is Aamir Kaleem, Jatinder Singh (c), Hammad Mirza, Vinayak Shukla (w), Shah Faisal, Zikria Islam, Aryan Bisht, Mohammad Nadeem, Shakeel Ahmed, Samay Shrivastava, and Jiten Ramanandi.
