Taylor Swift has hinted that her long-time friend and collaborator, Ed Sheeran, may be one of the star performers at her upcoming wedding to fiancé Travis Kelce.
The Grammy-winning singer, while promoting her newest album, The Life of a Showgirl, on the UK’s Hits Radio Breakfast Show, was asked directly by host Fleur East if Sheeran would sing at the nuptials.
Swift gave a humorous and telling response, suggesting that it would be nearly impossible to stop the “Shape of You” singer from taking the spotlight.
“Oh, it would be hard to keep him from it, I think!” Swift replied, according to a People report. She elaborated on their shared love for performing: “That’s the thing; he’s like, ‘I’m always being asked to sing at weddings.’ It’s like, ‘Ed, if there is a stage, you know you’ll be on it.’ He knows what people want, and he wants to give people what they want.”
The pop icon further gushed about their creative bond, noting that they both love performing, writing, and singing. “It’s actually not that hard at talking either of us into performing at anything,” she claimed.
Swift also fondly recalled Sheeran’s own marriage, mentioning, “He had a great wedding… like eight years ago, a forest wedding, like a woods wedding.”
The hints about the wedding entertainment align with comments previously made by Travis Kelce. The NFL player, on his New Heights podcast, revealed that he and Swift “think we’re live music kind of people.”
The couple took the internet by storm after announcing their engagement on August 26. Swift shared the news with a carousel post on Instagram featuring pictures of the proposal in a garden, cheekily captioning it, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” Swift is also currently focused on her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, which is now available for streaming.
