Taylor Swift’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)’ Powers Penultimate Episode of The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6

Washington [US], May 21: Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated Reputation (Taylor’s Version) made a powerful entry into pop culture this week, with her track ‘Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)’ featured in a pivotal moment of The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6.

The penultimate episode, titled Execution, opens with the chilling anthem as June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss) leads a fiery rebellion against the oppressive Gilead regime. The revenge-fueled lyrics of Swift’s rerecorded track underscore scenes of explosions, escape, and uprising, with the handmaids dressed in their iconic red robes reclaiming their power.

New character Aunt Phoebe, played by D’Arcy Carden, makes her debut amid the tension, further intensifying the drama. According to Deadline, the scene marked a climactic shift in the Hulu series’ final season, blending narrative urgency with a cultural icon’s music.

Moss, who also serves as producer on the show, told Billboard that it was “an honour” to use Swift’s song in the episode and described the track as “perfect for the scene.”

While snippets of the rerecorded version of Look What You Made Me Do had surfaced previously—including in a teaser for Wilderness—this is the first time fans heard a full-length usage in a major scripted drama.

Swifties have eagerly awaited the full release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version)—one of only two albums left to be officially rereleased by Swift, the other being her 2006 self-titled debut. In 2023, Delicate (Taylor’s Version) was used in The Summer I Turned Pretty, fueling speculation of an imminent rollout.

With only one episode remaining in The Handmaid’s Tale, the emotional stakes have reached new heights. The series is set to transition into The Testaments, based on Margaret Atwood’s sequel novel, continuing the legacy of the dystopian saga.
