New Delhi [India], January 7: As the Election Commission is set to announce the dates for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh emphasized that the party has always respected the electoral process. He expressed confidence that the people of Delhi will show their support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that “elections are the festival of democracy.”
Chugh criticized Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, stating, “The people of Delhi want to be free from the ‘AAPda’ (the Aam Aadmi Party) led by Arvind Kejriwal.” He claimed that Kejriwal has taken Delhi backward by 50 years, and the public is now saying “Kejriwal sahab, bye-bye.” He further predicted that the people would vote for a “double-engine” government under Modi’s leadership.
BJP leader Nalin Kohli also weighed in, noting that the election would give the people of Delhi a chance to choose their government. He contrasted the AAP’s failure to deliver on promises with the development model brought by Modi’s government at the Centre and BJP-NDA governments in the states.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar stated that the party is fully prepared for the elections, with all 70 candidates and Arvind Kejriwal as the Chief Ministerial candidate. She criticized both the BJP and Congress for their lack of preparation and expressed confidence in a free and fair election, predicting Kejriwal’s re-election for a fourth term.
Earlier, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal raised concerns over alleged “large-scale fraud” in voter additions and deletions in the New Delhi Assembly constituency. He referenced a letter from Delhi CM Atishi to the Chief Electoral Officer, presenting evidence and requesting a meeting.
In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP secured 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP won eight.
