Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 23: Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta has released an emotional video, crying inconsolably and alleging continuous harassment at her own home for the past four to five years. The actress, known for her role in India’s #MeToo movement, revealed that the situation escalated to the point where she felt compelled to call the police on Tuesday and is now seeking broader public assistance.
In the distressing video shared on her Instagram handle, Dutta stated, “Guys, I’m being harassed in my own home. I just called the cops. I got worried and called the police. The police came. They asked me to come to the police station to launch a proper complaint. I’m going to probably go tomorrow or the day after. I’m not well. I’ve been harassed so much in the last 4-5 years that my health has deteriorated.”
The ‘Dhol’ actress further alleged that individuals have “planted maids” in her house who have engaged in theft and other disruptive activities, leading to significant financial and emotional distress. “I’m not able to do any work. My house is a mess. I can’t hire even maids because they planted maids in my house. I had such a bad experience with maids coming in and stealing and doing all kinds of things. I have to do all my work. People come outside my door. I’m being troubled in my own house. Please someone help me,” she pleaded.
Sharing the video, Dutta wrote on Instagram, “I’m sick and tired of this harassment!! It’s been going on since 2018 #metoo Aaj fed up hokar maine police ko call kiya. Please someone help me! Do something before it’s too late.”
Tanushree Dutta first garnered national attention in 2018 when she accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of misbehaving with her during the shooting of a special song for their 2008 film ‘Horn Ok Pleasss’. Her allegations were pivotal in initiating India’s #MeToo movement. Nana Patekar has consistently denied all claims. While a police probe in 2019 reportedly found nothing incriminating against Patekar, leading to a “B-summary” report (closure report), recent reports from March 2025 indicate a Mumbai court refused to accept this report, effectively keeping the case open.
Dutta, also known for her roles in films like ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’ and ‘Bhagam Bhag’, has largely remained out of the limelight since her 2018 revelations. Her current plea for help highlights the ongoing challenges she faces, which she directly links to her #MeToo activism. She has also mentioned dealing with constant loud noises outside her residence since 2020 and suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome due to prolonged stress.
