Bollywood actor Tannishtha Chatterjee, known for her roles in films like Joram and Angry Indian Goddesses, shared a deeply personal revelation on her Instagram account on Sunday. In an emotional post, she revealed that she was diagnosed with Stage 4 oligo metastatic cancer eight months ago, shortly after losing her father to the same disease.
Chatterjee shared a picture of herself with a shaved head, along with a group photo that included fellow actors Shabana Azmi, Dia Mirza, Konkona Sen Sharma, Vidya Balan, and Divya Dutta. In a long and heartfelt caption, she wrote, “So the last 8 months have been incredibly difficult- to put it mildly. As if losing my father to Cancer was not enough. 8 months back, I got diagnosed with stage 4 oligo metastatic Cancer.”
She added that her post was not about pain but about love and strength, particularly the support she has received from her friends. With a 70-year-old mother and a 9-year-old daughter who are both dependent on her, Chatterjee admitted that the situation “can’t get worse than this.” However, she found solace in the “extraordinary kind of love” from her friends and family, which has brought “genuine smiles to my face, even on the hardest days.”
The actress concluded her message with a special tribute to her female friends, tagging several of them and writing, “Cheers to female friendships, the sisterhood that showed up for me with fierce love, deep empathy, and unstoppable strength. You know who you are – and I am endlessly grateful.”
Her post was met with an outpouring of support from the film fraternity. Konkona Sen Sharma commented, “You are just incredible and inspiring!! Love you.” Dia Mirza called her a “warrior princess,” and Abhay Deol sent her love in the comments.
Chatterjee was last seen in the film Bindiya Ke Bahubali, which premiered on August 8.
