Tamil Nadu BJP Launches Signature Campaign In Support Of NEP’s Three-Language Policy Amid State Opposition

The Tamil Nadu BJP has launched a signature campaign in support of the National Education Policy’s (NEP) three-language policy, with leaders such as K Annamalai, Tamilisai Soundararajan, and other party officials actively participating. The campaign aims to gather public backing for the policy, which seeks to introduce the study of three languages in schools across the country.

Tamilisai Soundararajan, the Tamil Nadu BJP leader, emphasized the importance of the three-language policy, pointing out its implementation in private institutions. “All senior leaders, district presidents, and mandal presidents are taking part in the signature campaign. It will be a mass movement. It will change the fortune of Tamil Nadu people,” Soundararajan told media.

She questioned the disparity in the educational system, stating, “Why are government children denied the opportunity to study another language which will open new job opportunities?” Soundararajan expressed her belief that implementing the NEP would create equal educational opportunities in central, state, and government board examinations.

However, the Tamil Nadu government has strongly opposed the NEP, particularly the three-language policy, alleging that it is an attempt by the Centre to impose Hindi. Chief Minister MK Stalin has condemned the policy, linking it to the withholding of funds from the state. He also warned that the potential delimitation of constituencies could negatively affect Tamil Nadu’s representation in Parliament.

In his criticism, Stalin said, “Their three-language policy has already resulted in the withholding of our rightful funds. Likewise, while they claim they will not reduce Tamil Nadu’s parliamentary seats, they are unwilling to assure that the representation of other states will not be disproportionately increased.”

Stalin urged the people of Tamil Nadu to rise against what he called unfair policies, asserting, “We will never compromise on Tamil Nadu’s welfare and future for anyone or anything… Tamil Nadu will resist! Tamil Nadu will prevail.”
