Reality TV star and influencer Abdu Rozik was detained upon arrival from Montenegro; authorities remain silent on specifics of the complaint.
Dubai [UAE], July 13:
Abdu Rozik, the renowned Tajikistani singer and social media influencer, was arrested at Dubai International Airport in the early hours of Saturday, shortly after arriving from Montenegro, according to a confirmation by the company managing him to Khaleej Times.
The 27-year-old artist, who rose to global fame through his music, viral social media content, and an appearance on India’s Bigg Boss 16, was reportedly detained around 5 am. However, Dubai authorities have not yet issued an official statement, and the exact details of the allegations remain undisclosed.
“All we can say is that we are aware he has been taken into custody on allegations of theft,” a company representative told Khaleej Times, refusing to elaborate further.
Rozik’s sudden detention has sent shockwaves through his fanbase, especially in South Asia and the Middle East, where he enjoys massive popularity. The singer is well-known for hits such as “Ohi Dili Zor,” “Chaki Chaki Boron,” and “Modar.”
In 2022, Rozik was invited to perform at the 22nd IIFA Awards in Abu Dhabi, where he sang the popular Hindi song “Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga” from the film 1942: A Love Story, earning widespread applause.
The arrest is not Rozik’s first brush with legal scrutiny. In 2024, he was questioned by India’s Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering investigation involving a hospitality firm. While he was not named as an accused in that probe, his association with the firm drew public attention.
As of now, Rozik’s legal team has not issued a public response, and further proceedings or charges remain unclear.
