Washington [USA], December 19: The Producers Guild of America (PGA) has announced that filmmaker Taika Waititi will receive the prestigious Norman Lear Achievement Award at the 36th Producers Guild of America Awards. The ceremony will take place on February 8, 2024, at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Waititi, an Oscar and Grammy Award-winning director, is renowned for his work on films such as Thor: Ragnarok, Thor: Love and Thunder, Jojo Rabbit, Boy, and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Known for blending wit with cultural exploration, his films often feature unique humor while celebrating diverse stories.
In a statement, Waititi expressed his gratitude for the honor, saying, “To be included alongside legends and so many I look up to, like the great Norman Lear himself, is truly humbling. My work as a producer has always been about telling stories that reflect the world as it is – messy, diverse, and full of humanity. The Producers Guild Awards will be chaired by Mike Farah and Joe Farrell.
