Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 12: The excitement around Akshay Kumar’s upcoming horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla has skyrocketed with the announcement that acclaimed actress Tabu has joined the cast.
Tabu revealed her involvement in the project by posting a picture of a clapboard featuring the film’s title on her Instagram. Teasing her role, she wrote, “Hum yahan bandh hain” (Translation: “We are locked here”), sparking a wave of excitement among fans.
Directed by Priyadarshan, Bhooth Bangla marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after 14 years. The duo has previously worked together on successful films such as Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa.
The film, which falls under the horror-comedy genre, is a familiar space for Akshay Kumar, who has enjoyed success in similar roles in films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Laxmii. Tabu, known for her versatility in critically acclaimed films like Andhadhun and Haider, is expected to bring a unique depth to the project.
Bhooth Bangla is produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms along with Akshay Kumar’s production house, Cape of Good Films. The film is slated for a theatrical release on April 2, 2026.
In addition to her work in Bollywood, Tabu has also garnered praise for her portrayal of Sister Francesca in the Hollywood web series Dune: Prophecy. Set 10,000 years before the events of the Dune films, the series delves into the past of the formidable Bene Gesserit and explores themes of power, politics, and prophecy.
