Hollywood/Mumbai – Hollywood star Sydney Sweeney has reportedly been offered a staggering deal to star in what is being touted as one of India’s most expensive films ever made. According to a report from The Sun, a British tabloid, a production company has approached Sweeney with a £45 million (over ₹530 crore) paycheck, which would make her one of the highest-paid actresses in the world.
The deal is said to be comprised of a £35 million acting fee and an additional £10 million in sponsorship agreements, with producers hoping Sweeney’s global star power will help the film appeal to an international audience. The film, reportedly an epic romance, would feature Sweeney as a young American celebrity who falls in love with an Indian star. The production is planned for early 2026 and is expected to be shot in multiple international locations, including New York, Paris, London, and Dubai.
Sweeney, who gained fame for her roles in the HBO series Euphoria and The White Lotus, is currently weighing her options. A source close to the actress stated that she was “shocked by the offer at first” but finds the project intriguing, as it could further elevate her global profile.
While representatives for Sweeney have not commented on the report, the rumored figure has generated significant buzz, with many in the Indian film industry questioning the feasibility of such a high salary, even for a Hollywood star. For context, reports indicate that the most expensive Indian film currently in production is Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, with a budget of approximately ₹835 crore.
The offer highlights the increasing ambition of Indian production houses to create films with global appeal and to bridge the gap between Hollywood and Bollywood.
