Swati Maliwal Targets Arvind Kejriwal Over Heavy Security

Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, once a fervent supporter of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) policies, has cemented her role as a fierce critic of the party’s top leadership. Her latest attack targeted former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the extensive security arrangements accompanying their movements.

Maliwal took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a video of Kejriwal’s convoy, contrasting the security spectacle with the party’s founding principles of simplicity and common man politics.

Swati Maliwal (on X): “If Emperor Kejriwal Ji and his travel agent Bhagwant Mann Ji step out into the city even once, police from several districts are deployed just to serve them.”

She further slammed the size of the security detail, alleging a severe misuse of public resources:

“Forty vehicles, two buses full of police in civilian clothes, 200 police personnel, the entire city jammed. How can there be such a stark difference between someone’s words and actions?”

Rift Follows Alleged Assault

Maliwal’s shift from vocal advocate to strong critic has been visible since the time she alleged an assault incident inside the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence earlier this year.

Before the latest criticism over the convoy, Maliwal had also recently targeted the Punjab government, led by Mann, over what she claimed was the deteriorating law and order situation and rising incidents of violent crime in the state.

The public sparring between the AAP MP and the party leadership underscores the deep rift within the Aam Aadmi Party, providing fresh ammunition for critics who accuse the party of abandoning its anti-VIP, common-man roots
