Guwahati: Two of the seven people who are suspected of killing Zubeen Garg, a famous musician and cultural figure from Assam, have been ordered to jail for 14 days.
After spending 14 days in CID custody, the two accused, band member Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and co-singer Amrit Parva Mahana, were brought before the chief judicial magistrate court in Guwahati.
The court said they should be held, but it hasn’t said where in Assam’s district jail they will be held. Government lawyer Pradip Kuwar said that the investigative officer can choose the best area for them to be held in judicial custody.
Singapore Police Give Update on Investigation
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said before that they don’t think the singer’s death was a crime and told people not to propagate unconfirmed information.
“The Singapore Police Force is aware of rumors and incorrect information that are going around online about the death of Mr. Zubeen Garg. The Coroners Act 2010 in Singapore says that the case is being looked into right now. The statement said, “Based on initial investigations, the SPF does not suspect foul play.”
The SPF said that the investigation might take up to three more months. After that, the results will be sent to the State Coroner, who will decide whether to hold a Coroner’s Inquiry (CI) to find out what happened.
The High Commission of India has already received a copy of the autopsy report and the first results.
